This is the first time I've had any experience setting up a recording studio, so plz try to understand where I'm coming from. I have a good friend that's in a small band who would like to do some recording, and maybe make a CD later on. There's gonna be a maximum of about 10 tracks I'll have to record and edit - 4 vocals, bass, guitar, piano, drums. I've done some research online about this stuff but there's not a lot of information on it. I find that the best way is to use forums
. Anyway, all I need to do is some basic recording and editing. The quality doesn't need to be outstanding, maybe just something someone could listen to on a cd player w/ headphones. So far I've come up with this -
-Computer
ibook G4 800 mhz
640 Mb RAM
60 gig 4200RPM
USB2.0 and firewire400
MacOSX 10.3 (Panther)
*$1500
-MBox (comes w/ protools LE)
*$500
-Studio Projects B1
*$100
-I've already got a good amp and two good speakers.
We're kinda on a limited budget of around $3000. I'm planning to use the extra money for cables and materials for the recording room. I'm a computer nerd so I know a lot about computers, just not recording lol. Help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
