Hi
I found a .mid file on the internet, when i play it in windows media player it sounds like "classic midi", but i don´t know how to set it up in cubase. I´ve manage to make sounds using cubases own a1 synth, but isnt there some kind of basic instrument that suits this midi file. I have been trying to use the microsoft GS wavetable SW synth, but it dosnt produce any sound. Can someone help me please.

Its a GM midi file so if you open it, it should open up all the tracks that it uses. For there you can either: Assign your own output device for each channel (this may not give you the results that you want) or assign all the outputs to a multitimberal hardware or software GM midi module (MS SW synth should be one, there are others on the net- Google Windows GM midi players)

Edit:

Just came across this:

Sounds like exactly what you are looking for
