basement windows question

Hey y'all,

Well I just moved up to Milwaukee from Texas and now live in a house with my first basement.

The house is brick, and the basement is about 3/4 underground.

In the finished basement room, there are 2 small windows at the top of the walls on each side of the house. The back wall of that room is raw (though painted) brick. The side walls are brick on the outside, but they are finished with drywall on the inside. The front wall is drywall, and it connects with the rest of the basement (which is unfinished).

The ceiling of the basement is a standard wood frame ceiling.

My question is this: Is it even worth it to board up and fill the windows to help prevent sound leakage, or would it even matter at all?

Noise entering the main house level is not a concern; I'd just like to prevent as much noise from reaching the neighbors as possible. I'm renting, so I can't do anything drastic. And I'm too poor for drastic anyway!

Thanks

Thanks

If you boarded the windows up and put some insulation in between the boards it will help somewhat in sound penetrating through the windows. It isn't going to hurt any to do it.
