This studio is being built inside of a barn garage. There are some variables that need to be played with. So if you could give me some ideas and advice as how to get the best sound out of it, that would be awesome. It's more of an attic on top of a garage. I'm new at this recording business, so forgive me if there are a butt load of obvious solutions. Read on!
The Barn from the outside!! It's in the top part only.
Insulation-We have insulated the walls, floors, and ceiling with R-13 fiber glass insulation. I looked for Owens Corning 703 insulation, but I guess you have to special order here in alaska. So if there is an alternative let me know.
BASS TRAPS-I want to build the bass traps, but I'm not sure what would be the best material. Any Ideas?
Blue Print of Studio
The space is 23' 7" X 17'. It's 7 feet from the floor to the ceiling. Here are the specs
Corners with Door
The door is going to be tricky to insulate and make openable at the same time. This is where most of the Equipment will go through. That's going to be a bitch... If anyone has any ideas on how to get heavy equipment up in a Barn studio that would be great also! I was thinking of a pully system. Still thinking though.
Corners By Ladder Exit
The left corner is where I want to record and make some panels to capture the sound better.
Better Pic of Door
The door is 6' X 4' 5". We were thinking of making two doors swing inward, but if you can come up with something better spill it.
Ladder Exit
The ladder exit folds up. It is 55" X 23". I want to build a cover for it to kill the sound from downstairs. Any ideas?
Sound Panels
I'm up for ideas on making sound panels. I really want to make them out of Owens Corning 703, but like I said I don't want to have to special order them. So hopefully there is something just as good.
Well that's that for now! I hope you guys can mustar up some great ideas! I'll add more if I can think of anything. I don't know if anyone has made a studio out of a barn garage before. I hope it works well.
This studio is mainly for my new band COMPANDA, which I'm really excited about!
Check us out and tell me what you think!
