The Way It Moves
I was just wondering, would it be possible to buy an acoustic guitar that is set up for EADGBE standard tuning, and then have it set up to accept BEADGB tuning?

Or do you need to have an "actual" baritone guitar to do this?

It would require that you work out the string gauge's you need to get that pitch and tuning. The tension in the strings would need to be worked out and an estimate of the ability of that guitar to withstand the tension. After that you'd need to get the nut, saddle, action, neck, relief and possibly some fret work done to get it play right with correct intonation. Yes it would probably be possible and be OK but I have never tried it. You might find the neck width a little restricting. Why do you want to as a matter of interest? If it where me I'd consider a 7 string guitar. which would give you a low B OR C without any possible consequences.

Because it seems like all baritone acoustic guitars are $800 or more. I wasn't interested in spending that much yet. I've got an Ernie Ball baritone and its okay, but was interested in an acoustic baritone just because it might sound cool, who knows?

I guess you get what you pay for... :]

Well the succinct answer to you question is yes. Keep in mind the observations I made if you convert an existing acoustic. You would likely have to have some major set up work to make it play right. You may or may not be pleased with the result. Hard to say really. Never tried it myself.
