can anyone vouch for these cats personally? i read lazi's comments on them. i also want to hear some beats flossy boy made with them. are these the best people to deal with if i want to expand my sound library on the korg?

All the tracks you heard from me were produced with thier drum samples. They are legit my man. I got a gang of drum samples for only 10 bones. You can't beat that. I have paid 50 to 100 dollars for others and I don't even use them anymore. I plan on hitting them up for more once I get started on some other stuff.

Getting Everything Ready....Be Patient

They got some pretty tight kits for realz. I'm just waiting on my partna to finish up my website so I can put up links. I'm not going to do the mp3.com thing or other joints. I'm just going to host my own ish, that way when something breaks down, i don't have to be calling 10 different people asking why my website is down, or why my songs didn't get posted, etc.

would you say those kits from bangin beats would complement the korg, yamaha, mpc? or once you have one of those you don't need those samples? the money you spend on those expensive peices of equipment that they would already have top of the line samples, or do you have to tweak the drums and snares? if so then with bangin beats they must cater to r&b and hip hop, by providing drum kits that you can just use raw without having to tweak?

It's Personal Preference Now

really the MPC is just a piece of hardware that plays samples. it has no internal sounds....no synth engine so it doenst make sounds. you load samples into it's memory(2mb worth of memory when you first buy it,but you can upgrade to 32mb in the 2000 & 2000xl i forgot in the 3000 and 4000), and assign the sample to a pad. then you just play the pads. that's basically the same thing you do with Reason and Fruity Loops. you load samples and assign them to a pad in the program, then you build your loops. but me personally, I like using the mpc instead of software programs, because I can load 256 sounds at one time, and have 64 pads(4 banks of 16 pads, just press the button for the bank you want and you have 16 new sounds to hit up). with those sounds loaded all ready, i can go in and tweak each sound using parameters like tone, attack, decay, resonance, etc....... also the sequence timing is hella tight in the mpc, so recording a beat can happen in a matter of minutes. lately i've been on a roll, doing beats on the mpc with the motif midi'd up in less than an hour. to me it's just much easier doing beats on the mpc and a whole lot quicker than using software. at first though it seems easier using the software programs but after you get used to the mpc, everything falls in place. they have a midi pad controller, that looks like the mpc pads that you midi up to your computer or sound module and you just play the pads just like you would the mpc, but it doesn't come with a sequencer and i dont' know how sequencers respond to it when it records the midi data from it to play the sounds you assign it.

so really you could buy the samples from bangin beats and load them into your fruity loops or reason.......that's what i did when i was in afghan cause my freaking fuse went out in my mpc and it took 3 weeks to get news mailed.
but yeah that's my 2 cents

yo

thanks for that valuable and most detailed peice of info flossyboy. so you made it back from afghanistan hah? feels good? but i know you will miss the extra overseas pay, but being in the states enabling you to get things popping should out weigh that.

Yeah it was an experience

yeah i went at the end of april and got back in september......i was flying back to maryland from georgia(fort benning) on sept. 11. man it was wild, but going over there was one of the best things in my life. i got a gang of experience hosting a few web servers, up'd my skills in networking windows and unix systems, and got the lucci to upgrade our studio equipment. so i paid my dues to get my jewels.

i'm just waiting for my partna to finish up the website so yall can feel the music. i know some people are like "man, this dude aint even post no kinda links to his ish" but it's coming.

I'm also concentrating on saturating this maryland area with our music. we just got a hold of 2000 cdrs hella cheap, so we bout to put 5 regular songs, 3 screwed up freestyles, and 2 regular freestyles on the cd's and pass them out for free. so our awareness should get cracking in a little while. i'll keep yall posted. i'm keeping notes on what works and what doesn't too so it might help other fellas in other areas to get to the level they wanna be at.

i'm feeling that flossy boy

do your thing dunny, i like to hear people getting money like i'm trying to get it. i think you have your things more in focus then i do right now, but i'll be there. i saw maryland and then i saw screw freestyle, and i remembered this cat is originally from texas. i was like what they know about that up north?.

Saturat'n maryland. You need help where ya at playa I'm kick'n it in PG County Maryland/ DC

yo chalin

i have peeps in glenn burnie. i'm either going to move to dc, baltimore, harrisburgh pa, or somewhere in florida.

yeah man, i'm up in Frederick, stationed at Fort Detrick....Home of Anthrax hahahahahahaha

we used to have a tight azz female rapper from PG County last year. her name was mindy, but she called herself Da Dom. a pimping broad type of chick, she was hella tight with her flow though. i'm think i'ma hit her up to do some tracks.

but marketing-wise, we are waiting for my partna to send us the mixed down/mastered songs(5), and then we are going to burn 2000 cd's and pass them out in frederick and hagerstown. these 2 towns arent that big so saturating them with 2000 cds should put us on the map and get that buzz ringing pretty quick. it's like since i'm not from here i don't have that hometown favoritism, but we should garner some favoritism from this since are music will be placed in so many hands. i don't wanna branch out to DC and B-more yet until we got these 2 towns on lock, that way we know we can do a show and know people will come out and pay so we get paid. besides driving all the way to b-more and dc would be wasteful if we don't have a local following established yet. the clubs here are lame, so perform here is pretty lame, so we are hoping that people will dig the music, and then come out to our shows we host at this one Holiday INN. we can pay Holiday INN here $500 for their place and we can charge at the door, and take all those proceeds. Man we talked to the managers of the club/activity center on base, and the dude was like "NO You can't charge at the door....the CAC(Community Activity Center) takes all the money in" even after we pay them upfront for the building. Cause see if we perform, liquor gotta be sold and there has to be a gang of broads. no broads or liquor and your show is considered lame. ya know

but yeah hit me up and we can get down on somethangs

big pimpin

yo, that is a great marketing strategy. man, fort detrick is a lot better than ft. gordon in a lot of ways, but the gordon club here let's you keep your loot after you pay for the building, you have to split the bar with them though. one of my x nco's from new york used to dj there, it wasn't too profitable, not too many people wanted to go to the club on post here. it's a lot different from ft. hood. that was a gold mine. when i first got here my roommate was talking about throwing parties at the hotel. he said when he was in ait here, this other guy used to make a lot of loot off of those, because the ait students were at the hotels on the weekends. the hotel just wanted money for the hall and wanted to provide their own bartender + alcahol.all of the proceeds from the bar would go to them, and that's where all of the money generates from.

yo, flossy

i just got my application in the mail for a position as security police in kuwait. i'm happy about it, but my wife is concerned about me getting killed over there. i have 3 days to get a passport and send the package back. if it's nothing immediately open i will be on stand by. i figure i can get a lot done over there as far as a working on my material. i can take my setup over there with me and do my recordings also. i will be working 12hour days 6 days a week but that's cool. if you have any friends that are getting out that may be interested here is the link. if anyone you know ends up out there holla at me so i'll know. i'm guessing that it'll be about 3months from now when i'm off.

60 Hour Work Week (Average Hrly Rate)

i hope spin doesn't flip about me posting this in here. right now they are working 60hr weeks which brings in overtime, that's where the money comes in. it's some more hidden money that you get, which brings it to those numbers up top. i can e-mail em to you if you want the info. i just reread the packet and i'll be working 5 days and not 6. the triton comes in today, so i'll be straight with that. i'll probably have to buy my partner out of his half of the triton so i can take it with me. i figure a year away to get my money up and my skillz as well won't hurt(that is if i don't get my azz killed)l.o.l.
