I want to get the Yamaha hs80m monitors and I have a tascam us 800. As far as I am aware the tascam has unbalanced outputs but the monitors have balanced inputs. Can they be connected and if so what cabling would I require. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

when I saw "balanced and un balanced" I immediately thought of a mental state.
:D

It shows the yammies having XLR and 1/4 so if your 800 has 1/4 out, go ahead and use the 1/4.
Just keep the length of the cables under 20 ft (I think it's 20)

Did you read the specs? "XLR and TRS phone jack inputs accept balanced or unbalanced signals" I am sure the manual will tell you.

The tascam us 800 has RCA unbalanced outs,, so get a 2 x rca to jack leads and plug them into the jack inputs of the Yamaha's.

What would this cable accomplish? To hook up that interface to those monitors, you would need to run two separate cabled from the unbalanced RCA output jacks on the interface that run to the 1/4" input jacks on each of the monitors. Assuming the monitors will accept unbalanced 1/4" connections, you would need two cables with a male RCA jack on one end and a male, unbalanced 1/4" TS jack on the other. Two of these:

Comprehensive EXF 1/4" Male to RCA Male SPP-PP-10EXF B&H

Of course, these are off-brand cables and thus cheap, but they have the right connectors.
