Bag the lag?

Hi, all,

I hope you can help. I have a problem with increasing lag as I record more tracks. The first tracks go fine, but after more than, say, 5 or 6, the lag becomes apparent. After 10 or more, the track is so out of synch it's unusable. I've read the help files about buffers and preferences and tried various suggestions from there, and it seems to help a little but not enough to do me any good. It's not a consistant lag (starts late, ends late) it's a progressive lag (starts right gets progressively further behind over time) so I can't just compensate.

I've got a SoundBlaster Platinum Plus sound card and a new computer with plenty of RAM and clock speed.

I thank you in advance for your help.

Since 23 people have looked at this message, I thought I'd go ahead and share the solution which I just found on the n-tracks site:

The SoundBlaster Live card runs internally at 48000 hz. If you record at a different sampling frequency, the program converts on the fly, which can cause lag problems.

If you go to preferences and set the sampling frequency to 48000 instead of 44100 hz, then the problem should be resolved.

When you're done recording, you'll have to convert to 44100 to make a CD, but that's easy to do. Even for a newbie like me.
