It's the smell..
Been awhile. A buddy of mine is recovering from a stroke. He's a guitarist and the road back has been pretty rocky. With that in mind, we got together awhile back and wrote this as a tool to get him back in the recording mode. Melodically, it's pretty simple, which is perfect for his stage in his recovery. Anyway, I thought I'd throw it out there for grins. The timing's a little rough around the edges but it's a work in progress.
BTW, I'm still fighting the leaning mix problem, but I think I've about got it licked. Seem centered to you?
Thanks, guys!

Love the syncopated rhythms. A definite Pat Metheny thang happening with the guitar. Punchy, clear and pristine fidelity - which sounds balanced to my ears. If there was a leaning I'd say slightly on the left... maybe, perhaps, just a smidgen. Then again, maybe not...

I liked the instrumentation. Overall sound was nice. Playing was solid.

My only complaint was that the bass got a little boomy.

OK and the acoustic lead guitar was bit too compressed for my tastes.

Thanks Triple. The mix is far from final, but I was mainly worried about things being centered correctly in the stereo field. Seems like that's ok.

Grooves like a three legged Triceratops.

Mix sounds very dynamic.

You have not lost your touch.

Here's hoping the picker picks up.

sounds good. Love the piano sound, real nice. What is that?? Not a real one, right?

I think the snare is a little too loud, not balanced with the rest of the drum kit. Could come down significantly for this style of music.

Other than that, it's all good. Nice to see you putting up some tunes again.

lol @ three legged Triceratops. You crack me up, Bob.:D
Thanks for the listen. That herky-jerky groove was what I was shooting for. I kinda envisioned an evil slinky or dancing a waltz with one leg shorter than the other. :p

Chili, that piano was one of the 3 billion grand piano patches from my Fantom G6. Glad you like it. It's pretty tasty. Back when I was drumming, I always cracked the hell outta my snares. I guess my mixes still reflect that preference. I was an unspeakably crappy drummer, so I probably ought to revisit that strategy.:o Thanks for the ears.

Dude... Loved the vibe. Stereo balance was good as far as my ears are concerned. The only problems I heard were the ones you already mentioned and maybe some space issues with the organ and triangle. Great song idea, though... I enjoyed listening to it.
