cjacek
very kind words, cjacek!
i appreciate it!

Rokket
hey man, glad you liked it, but seriously, don't ever let shit like this throw you from doing your own thing.
people like things, for different reasons.....
and i'd never sell yourself short for doing 'your thing', that someone else may totally dig!

thanks for listening.....

variaxman
thanks for the props...
and yeah, it took at least 4 versions (demos) of this thing, before i figured out how to make it my own.
the first versions were pure karoake..... and bad ones at that!!
LOL

it's just that, it's so classic, and the original was so perfect (for what it was) that doing a cover of it, meant taking it somewhere completely different.
some people get it, some don't....
but i couldn't stick to the original thing...

and using the Katrina experience as a 'jumping off' point of how i felt about the lyric of the song, and the feel of it, well, it made it more like a funeral song..... slower, a little more stately, and a bit more depressing.

i mean, face it, the lyric is not a happy lyric!!

LOL
but the music is...

and that's a real mind-f*ck.
you got this poppy, up tempo happy music...... and a guy's telling you to get your things together........

yikes.

thanks for listening!!

nice :) i haven't heard this song since i performed in a redneck bar lol.

this version makes a refreshing change from the original. i love the way you changed the guitar parts. :) i wondered if it was too slow, but slow and your changes give it an entirely different groove. well done :)

Absolutely fucking kick ass bomb track awesome.

May life rain blowjobs down upon you such as you deserve for such awesomeness.

A country style harmony on the choruses would be nice.

Beautiful work, and hats off to you sir.

Tell me you have posted this before. I know I've heard this before. Fantastic STYLE YOU'VE PUT OVE R THIS TUNE. I love IT.:D

Nicole_Rose
redneck bar!
LOL
i guess that's true, that's where you'd hear it, before you'd hear it anywhere else!
i always remember the scene in 'american werewolf in london' everytime i hear this stupid song.
ruined forever....
LOL

thanks for the nice words. and thanks for checking it out.

supercreep

"May life rain blowjobs down upon you such as you deserve for such awesomeness."
LOL :D
why, i've never heard such a thing.
hehehe
hey, thanks.......
and that harmony you mention, would totally work in this context.
i was afraid of going to far with the backups, i edited out a lot of what i originally tracked.
seemed better more sparse.....

track rat-
yeah, it's been a while, but i've posted it before...
seems new folks come thru, and i want their opinion too... usually because i'm reworking it or something, and need a fresh perspective.....

thanks for listening, glad you liked it!

That's great!

Is it a full band recording with overdubs afterwards, or was this tracked out one at a time? It has a real natural energy to it that usually you only get with full band recordings.

EDIT: I read back through the posts, I see you used a drum machine. I have to listen real quiet cause I'm at work, but it sounded like a band on my crappy little 1998 pc speakers. Good job!

undrgrnd studio -

thanks for listening!
this is a two man collab, done across the net.

the keyboard player, did all the drums (programmed) and all the keys....

i did all the vocals, the guitars, the bass guitar.
all tracked one track at the time.

the trick is the energy and drive, you totally got it!
i don't know what the trick is..........
except to say, my approach at recording is always try to get into the moment, and let the brain go

brain off= good
brain on=bad.

:D

acoustic fury-
thanks for listening, glad you liked it..

i used my taylor 414 for the acoustic parts in this one...
it could almost be done entirely acoustic, really.....
