Chris: thanks for giving it a listen. I love uncool movies :)

David: that's what happens when you try to cram all your stuff into a 5' x 5' space :)

CyanJaguar: thanks for listening bud.

Emeric: the keyboard-like sound on the guitar is the North Pole filter by Prosoniq. The first guitars are actually just one guitar take. I ran the guitar through the POD on some random clean setting, and I also mic'd the strings. The POD sound I ran through the filter for the organ-like feel, and I mixed in the string noise for some definition. It took me a couple days to find a filter that would do that to the guitar...and it's still not *exactly* what I wanted.

I agree about the reverb on the drums. But reverb on fake drums makes them sound even faker, so I have a tendancy towards really dry hits. I'm actually going to be working on this in the future...I know there's got to be a good way to do it. Maybe if I get just the right sample with just the right reverb setting....

My sense of timing is horrible. I mean really really horrible. I've had a problem with it all my life...even way back in junior high school band :) I can't count and my brain just doesn't process at the right speed or something. See, it all sounds like it's dead on while I'm playing it...but when I playback, ugh! You noticed it in Dirt as well...and that one had some really poor timing. I really need to practice...if I could get my timing down my music would improve considerably.

Thanks for listening!

I just think its a really cool tune. Vocals and lyrics are great. I also really like how the guitar at the beginning slowly comes up in volume to start us off with the melody during the cool beginning windy dream like thing. For some reason it made me want to listen closely to the lyrics. I guess it just set me up right.
Well done Slackmaster.

first off...thanks for listening to my stuff at my mp3.com site. and I appreciiate your comments.

Now...on to your "bad day"

I don't have a problem with song length, the transition..or any of that stuff. that is what makes music fresh and interesting...so keep up with the experimenting. I like the "new" sound of something wanting to emerge from the sink drain....interesting to say the least. The acoustic fade in works great, and I can see why people want to relate it to Pink floyd.....wierd stuff, with a recognizable acoustic guitar on top of it. Your vocals cut it, but you're probably just too new to singing in front of people...hence your embarressment. ..but you shouldn't be...screw 'em anyway...huh??!!?? The acoustic sounds very good, and has that percussive sound to the strum which sounds very "pro"...whatever that means...!! HA! Good subject matter, and the lyrics are intelligent enough to be able to listen to them...a big plus to me. Not to keen on the muffled guitar lead gtr sound at the 2nd half...but hey...you didn't like my POD sounds either ;-D ....so we are even!! no....I think a cleaner, brighter sound would have been my preference. I enjoyed you web page, and will return in the future for further musings.

keep up the quality work, Slack!

The new version corrects the vocal inconsistency, and the rest of the mix is excellent. It sounds great, Slack!

Dude,

MS Explorer is not letting me in! :(

Is your server down, or is it just me?

Shakey, it seems to be working now. My domain host isn't the greatest...I'm going to start shopping around soon. If you consistantly pull up a blank page, then hold down the shift key while you press refresh....sometimes your browser will cache an incomplete page. If forcing it that way doesn't work, then try this link which will result in the identical page, but should sufficiently fool your browser: http://www.thesoggybiscuit.com/~sm2k/

CMiller: thanks! All I did was raise the vocal level way up. I can hear the background hiss now though...oh well. The ART Tube MP and SM57 are not a good combo. :( Thanks for the compliments.

Mixmkr: thanks for listening! The acoustic is actually an electric...a cool sound though. I really fought myself over the end guitar part. The rythym guitar is POD, which is why it's so edgy, and the lead is through this Mr. Mic kind of amp thing I have. I chose the sound because it's very unique...yet I agree that it might not fit this tune. The more I listen however, the more I like. So I dunno.

Bobbo: thanks for the compliments!
