Has anyone ever had any success with back-up voices software? You know some software that will give you more back-up singers. Someone told me that some software will even give you female voices. Hard to believe.

Thanks for any help,

If you adjust carefully (and not over a drastic pitch range), you can usually achieve good results with software like Clone Ensemble or Voice Machine. I think if pitch-shifting and gender-bending is your thing, you should check into a hardware unit like those by TC or Digitech (Even the Digitech Vocalists will give you superior results compared to most software). The hardware units have the advantage of having dedicated processors for the voice algorithms. To get good results requires a great deal of processing power, and if those processes can be realized with dedicated hardware, even better (You might want to check into a plugin card too). For the ultimate results look no further than an Eventide Ultra-Harmonizer (And a small fortune to buy one).

Hey thanks for your time. I'll check into your suggestions. I'm checking out your pics, great looking studio. Mine's so much smaller, thats because I started with a 4 track much more expensive than what you can do now with the computer. Keep at it.

I have a Digitech Vocalist Performer. The only disadvantage to it is you can't adjust the gender, but like Atterion stated, I can pitch shift a bit in software if I want female voices. Hardware is the way to go, because even though it sounds a bit processed, it's still closer to human sounding than the software. TC Helicon is the pinnacle of the hardware, but it's way out of my price range...
