Hey,

I am not sure if someone can help but here goes,

what type of effect should I generally apply to back up vocals for rap?

so a track like "crazy in love" what methods were taken to make Jay-Z's back up vocals different from his main vocals?

Should they be panned 30% or echoed maybe something else?

Always use a differentiating reverb, and pan somewhat.

I generally pan to the left, at about 22% or more... plus I layer effects to make it stand out, but not intrude on the main vocal track.

I do like above and eq a bit to get it soundin a little distant. Usually droppin some volume in a higher freq between 8000-10000.

Ohh ok, thanks guys, I am going to try out a few of those techniques.

Can yall do me a favour though?

listen to this dis track that i did and let me know what improvments you think i can make in terms of recording and mixing...

what you can always do is apply a different more dry effect like lowering the frequency and pan it a little to the left or random pan it.

Ohh ok, thanks for the tip. Will be trying them out in the next few days so i will let everyone know how it went.
