So, I use a Fender Hot Rod Deville on stage. This amp every 6 months or so breaks down. so far (touches a table leg) it's broke down during rehearsals.

If I was on stage and it conked out what would I do? Shit myself probably!

Guitar doesn't work direct into the mixer! - poo!

Does anyone have any suggestions what I could use for a back up system? I dont fancy lugging 2 Fender amps in and out of clubs! Is there something smallish I could just plug into and plug it into the PA mixer?

'elp me if ya can!

NICE!

Is it a preamp Im looking at then?

Would a DI box work?

Maybe you could get a Digitech RP50. It'll do amp simulation (like a POD), and since it's just a backup, it doesn't need to sound perfect. A friend of mine who also plays country got one after borrowing mine, and loves it. It has a kickin' tuner, too. I used it to record this, running it direct to the soundcard. For US$60, you can't go too far wrong.

PS Please leave a comment on the song. Thanks!

Yes. Another option would be to get something like a POD. The POD will give you more sounds, but the V-Twin is one sweet sounding box.

A direct box typically won't amplify or color the signal at all. All it does is convert the guitar output.

Thanks fellas

I could carry a spare set of tubes - yes, but I've had break downs with other things too.

I'll have a look at the POD thing.

thanks

You could also find an older cheap tube (or SS for that matter) head only. If it breaks down, hook the head up to the HR speakers.

Now then Major Tom, you've just had a top idea!! I'd not thought of that.

mmmm

I'll do some searching for a valve head - I think Fender do one.......

You could try a SansAmp GT2 coupled with a passive DI box.
