after 10 years I'm using a mac again. Just got a G4 coz my new school has made it a requirement. I'll also be getting a neat bundle (Including digital performer, plus some additinal hardware)

BUT - I don't have that stuff yet, and last nite I wanted to rip just a fragment of a song from a CD and then slow that fragment & modify it using and audio editor. On my (borrowed) PC I was using (what was it? ) yes, EZ CD creator, and some real well known audio editor program.

So my questin is, what would be good for doing this on the MAC? "iMusic" is most ridiculously SUCKY!!!

You can do it in DP, PEAK LE, Spark, many others cheapies too.

Since it's a mac you might even get the ProTools Free to run properly. You can download it from www.digidesign.com

OS 9 audio freeware:

ProToolsFree runs quite well on OS 9 if you strip your extensions down nice 'n lean. iTunes will handle any CD ripping you may need to do. SoundApp is another good feeware audio file converter/player that can do ripping as well. For quick & simple 2-track recording try Coaster.

There's lots of cool stuff coming out for OSX. You should be able to find just about anything you need here or here.

BTW "iMusic" is for downloading commercial releases not making your own.

There's a great piece of shareware - Felt Tip software's Sound Studio. Works in OS 9 and X. Go to www.versiontracker.com and search for it by name to download.

What kind of things can you do in ProTools Free? I have a Mac. I don't have too much stuff to go into my Mac, but I would definatly be interested.

Is it one of those 30 days trials of the full version?

If it is I gotta get my buddy over here to crack that shit.
