Had a little fun with this one. I know melodic-opera-power-metal is pretty popular these days, but I'm not into melodic-opera-power-metal, so I thought I'd try to annihlate a classical piece punk-rock style. I had a lot going on with this one, so any comments/critiques are very welcome and appreciated.

(And that is a real organ. No MIDI's were harmed or used in the making of this song) :p

Wow. Thanks a lot Ido. So everything sits in the mix okay? Is there anything out of place?

Dude! awsome! Mixed really nice, kindda reminds me of the Vibrators. Awsome.

Hey thanks a lot variaxman and polska. I appreciate it! :)

Ido and variax, I'd hit ya with some green rep, but:

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to ido1957 again."

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to variaxman again."

:p

Beautiful. Very creative. That's a helluva organ sound. How'd you record that?

I'd lessen the slapback on the bass gtr at 1:00. And give the gtrs more 350 Hz when there's nothing competing, like when they first come in.

I like the thunderclap/heavens parting/nuclear explosion at the end.

Thanks a lot for listening and for your input.

For the organ, I just stuck a LDC up near the speaker of my Grandfathers electric piano. Its not like a keyboard or anything. Its an actual electric piano. Its huge and has a hell of an organ sound. Anyway, I wasn't originally planning on having any organ in the song, but he died last year and he loved playing that piano and this was one of the songs he'd play, so it seemed fitting to use it.

I don't exactly understand your comments about the bass at 1:00. What do you mean by 'slapback'? I gotcha on the guitars.

The explosion was also an afterthought. The end of the song gets kind of frantic and sort of ramps up to the finale, so i thought a nice nuclear explosion would go well there. ;)

Thanks again. :)

It's more noticeable on the lower notes of the descending bass line around 1:03-1:06... sounds like a 150 MS or so delay on the bass.

Hmmm, thats odd. I'm not hearing it. The bass was recorded and left dry. Theres no effects whatsoever done to the bass. Just some mild EQ and compression.

Well, the passage only lasts a few seconds so no big deal either way. Maybe the post-pluck sound was in the inital bass playing... but it does sound like a delay to me.

Nice sounds man....it sounds well recorded, and mixed. Playing is great....very cool take on this. I got no nits....really enjoy it. :D

Really cool stuff and very well played. Thanks for bringing the smile to my face. ;)

i'm not really a fan of this kind of music but when that kicked in at around 1:30 it blew my mind....you sir are a master of the guitar!!!!!

cmhansen - Thank you. :)

DesertEase - Lol. I don't know about 'master of the guitar', but thanks a lot for the compliment and for listening. :)

I really enjoyed listening to this!

Ultimately, that's way more important than how well it was recorded/mixed. Which it was, BTW.

Kudos to all the players.

Although a little sloppy at times, I really dug the drummer's snare rolls. Not an easy thing to do. Maybe if he tightened the head just a bit it might've been a little cleaner, but that "gut" sound for the back beat worked - so it's a toss up.

Cheers, Rez

Thanks for listening Rez. :)

I played all the instruments on this song, so I'm 'all the players'. ;) :)

I thought about punching in some of the sloppier snare rolls, but I decided to just leave em. I kind of think it adds some 'realism' to the drum tracks. I've been accused in the past of using fake drums. ;) :p

Thanks again. :)

Is a kind of resonance, but sounds so natural I like this part here.
