Could anybody explain the differences in these mics? As in EQ wise and what not, such as silibance and so on.

Also, which mic would be better for a mid-ranged male artist. (Rapping not singing or rockin out with my cock out)

Thank you

Neither. No rapper worth his salt would ever use a mic with names like these.

I'm really curious about the difference in these two myself. I can't seem to firgure out whats different about them.

I think the Bird is a lot more neutral sounding, and the baby bottle has more of a pop rock sound. The baby bottle is actually becoming a pretty popular mic among underground rappers these days, I can't comment on how it sounds for rap, I've only heard it on a guitar amp.

Sorry to up such an old thread, but Im very curious myself...

I've got a couple tracks I did with the Baby bottle I could put up if anyone is interested. Just let me know. These are rap tracks which I recorded a while ago.

Im thinking of purchasing the Bluebird for rap vocals only. Anybody know what kind of voice this mic is best suited for?

The Baby Bottle has a somewhat rolled off top end and bottom end, not a real airy mic but good mid detail and natural sound. Excellent choice when you need a flat sound without a lot of accent on the top end.

The Bluebird has a more open and airy top, similarly good mid-detail and full sound...and overall I find it more useful than the Baby Bottle.

If anyone was choosing between the two, I would personally suggest the $100 cheaper Bluebird as it sounds great on many sources and will capture high end detail much better without being an overly sibilant mic.

You seem knowledgable on the subject... Would you mind listening to a track of mine and recommending which would accomodate my voice better? (Bear in mind this is strictly for rap vocals)

Thank you in advance

I would take the Bluebird, it has not exhibited any real sibilance issues and if you needed a lopped off top end you could EQ it...you can't EQ air back in.

War's dead on in his description of the baby bottle, while I personally love the mic its not well suited for sources where top end is needed. I find it not to work well at all on male vocals, I'm constantly adding eq from 1khz and up trying to get the "air" back in the track. However on female vocals where the top end is sometimes too much from the source its great, really shines on female vocals. Good work on getting the bird, if I had to do it over again I'd pick the bird.
