Flat. Unhyped. Honest, accurate, transparent.

A lot of people have described it as being "ribbon-like."

Sounds like a really high-output ribbon. I love mine. I got mine for $475 with shockmount, Blue pop-screen, and BLUE Blueberry mic cable... shipped.

Very nice mic.

where did you pick it up for that price that included all the goodies?

I don't own this mic, but I have auditioned it, and it didn't work for me as a vocal mic, but it was very nice on acoustic guitar. It struck me a lot like the AKG C414, a large diaphragm that works best on the stuff you usually use a small diaphragm for. I bet it rocks on strings and woodwinds.-Richie

Well, Heylow, you're more likely to be right than not. You own the thing, I've only done limited tracking with a borrowed mic. I know I couldn't make it work on my voice, but it was very nice on Irish flute and mandolin, things I'd happily use a 414 on. That's no substitute for owning it.-Richie

Rich,

I understand in some ways your comparison......

It's more in the upper range that I think it becomes apples and oranges. The 414 has a much more "open" (dare I say sometimes "hyped") high end whereas the Blue is pretty flat save for a slight rise in the 1.5 to 2.5k region.

The only reason I mention it is if a guy wanted that 414 thing, only the 414'll get it.
