Sorry about the question I'm new. Just would like some feedback. I want to get the most out of the onboard EQ. but have little knowledge on using it. I read a post on EQ but can't seem to apply it. (Could someone who owns a br-8?) Please tell me how they set their EQ on each instument. And does EQ help noise? What is EQ's role in recording? thank you for your time.

Hi...Welcome Aboard! I'm pretty new around here myself, but I do own the BR8, and I love it. As far as the eq, I always record everything flat and tweak only when necessary. I've read that it's often more effective to actually subtract eq, rather than add it to a track. I usually wind up boosting the bass a bit, along with the high end on the acoustic guitar and drums (snare, cymbals, etc.). I can't really tell you which specific frequencies I boost and cut, or by how much. I always just fool around with it until it sounds right on my speakers.

If you haven't already, start reading some of the recording magazines that are out there to get a good feel for the whole subject of eq. Also, you might try a web search on "equalization" and see what you come up with.

Good luck, and have fun!
