B-16 mod to run at 30ips?

A client has just brought in 3 reels to transfer, and they are recorded at 30ips.

I know that simply making my machine run at 30ips doesn't address the repro equalization, but I want to first hear how the tapes sound at 30. It is quite possible that the machine they were recorded on was converted from 15 to 30 without regard to EQ. I need to hear it first.

So does anyone know how to modify a B-16 to run at 30ips?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

There was an article where the author talks about Tascam M16 machines either come from the factory either 15 or 30. The Fostex machines I own and have owned have 2 speeds. Either 7.5 and 15 or 15 and 30 ips. I like the highs at 30 ips and the low at 15 ips. If I had to choose 30. You just need to enhance the bass or kick to make up the roll off. Its like at 90 hz or something. GT Response Curves of Analog Recorders
