I'm gettin a new mic.The Marshall MXL 900..What do you think? Please explain in detail...

And I wanna get a mixer instead of gettin a pre-amp..And I asked some engineer..and he got me confused on what a channel is..so tell me what a channel is..Like 4 channel, 2, etc...

I just need a basic mixer with, decent quality..

here are the mixers to choose from, please explain why..

My style of music is hip hop...

Please help..also if anyone knows a site that has a basic manual and explains a mixer so if i read it and learn some stuff..

Plus how does a mixer hook up to your comp...do i need to buy a special sound card?..please help!
 
The MXL 990 is alright mic. for the price it is very cool, might as well get one. if you are going to get such a small mixer and only one or a few mics for hiphop vocals, you might as well spend you money on a dedicated preamp around the same price.
