I have pro-tools LE6.9 on my mac g5....has been solid as a rock for 6 months!!!!...now.......IT says: "original disk allocation for this session can not be used. One or more drives can not be found or are invalid for this session. As a result disk allocation has been modified. Would you like to verify the new disk allocation?..............then------blank # of audio files are on volumes unsuitable for playback...would you like to copy them? WTF...it wont let me do anything!!!!! HELP!!!!!

make sure it's not something funky like you accidently have one of your session folder privilagies set to no access or whatever.

hi-lite the folder that the audio is in
file menu-get info
set permissions to read and write
under details select "apply to enclosed items"

check all folder associated with the session.

this may not be the problem, but it's the only thing i can think of.
good luck.

Have you done an OS upgrade? Pro Tools (and other Avid products) are notorious for having problems dealing with OS version updates.... Beyond that, no idea. Are you up to the latest version of 6.9.x?

Open up your Workspace Browser and set the drives back to "R" for record.

There should be R's under the A and V columns in the Workspace. If they aren't R's change 'em. Just click on them and they'll give you a list to chose from.

You can find the Workspace in the 'Window" menu.

If that doesn't work, go here and do what it says:

For those of you s******ing about the crashed mac....... A simple setting reset, most likely caused by an OS update or program install, has set the drives to a different category in Pro Tools. Most likely nothing has crashed and nothing is lost. This has happened to me twice and caused about 2 minutes of down time.

Good luck.

my morale of the day is - don't buy a mac....

but then again - I do REALLY hate the bloody things.

i have a mate who has the skill of making things crash, his first time ever using pro tools le and on a mac he got it to crash a couple times, he can make it routinely crash too lol its really funny
