Hey all,

A Friend of mine recently gave me his AW4416 Yamaha Recorder but I'm an absolute Novice at it.

I've managed to record the appropriate tracks and want to export it to a CD-R disc via an external SCSI Drive as a WAV file[the built in Drive ist kaputt ;)], but whenever I go to 'Execute' it just says: Error, Not Wav Drive.

This is probably a silly thing to some of you but as I say I'm still a huge Novice at this and just want to record a few demo's with it so if any of you guys happen to know what I'm doing wrong, please tell me as it is very frustrating... :P

Thanks,

Glenneth :)

AFAIK I'm the only person here who used an AW4416 and I gave mine away years ago, including the manuals, so I'm not going to be much help.

Can you import a .WAV from this drive? Can you do a .BAK backup? Sounds like the machine doesn't like the drive, to me.

You'll have better luck perhaps if you can find a Yamaha support forum somewhere.

And, you're using really old, really dated tech with some really bad limitations (despite it being a kickarse machine in its day) - save a few hundred bucks and get an interface and Reaper, is my advice.

Dang... Erm, I can make a backup of it and the external SCSI does it fine, it doesn't play though, not sure if it should but at least it recognises the drive... ><

I'll try a Yamaha support group, thanks

If it's recognising the drive, then it should be able to record to it. You have created the STEREO track, I assume? I'm afraid I don't remember much about how the beast works. The manuals should also be available online somewhere if you don't have them.

Your best source of information concerning the AW4416 is at The DijonStock Digital Home Recording Support Forum ? Index page

I strongly suggest that you send an email request for membership at the site.

It's a shame that the internal drive is no longer functional.

IF there is a way to export the file via an external drive....someone at Dijonstock just might know of a way how to do it.

How much trouble is it to get the old drive out?
If you could do that and hawk it round a few computer repair shops I dare say someone would recognise it and you could get a replacement. In fact they might have a drive out of a clunker that you could have for a Brown One.

Dave.
