I have a YAMAHA AW16G. I have recoarded some live songs and I wount to down load the tracks to a CD as a wave file and e-mail then to a studio.

can some one help me?

So you want to burn however many separate tracks as individual wave files to CD instead of just a stereo file? I'm not familiar with your Yamaha unit but I'm sure someone here can help.

By the way, welcome to the BBS.

Yo Thunderous One:

Got to the site for the AW-16 and I'm sure someone will help you; if not, Jeffrey will jump in to direct you.

OK correct me if I'm wrong, but basically you want to put the files on the CD in WAV format and NOT burn them as an audio CD right?

If so, then it's simple:

In whatever CDR Software you're using select DATA CD and not MUSIC CD. Then just drop the WAV Files into the burn window and burn it....

Of course I'm assuming that this piece of equipment you have is a standerd CDR for a PC or MAC... if not then please disregard this post :p

Hi subwoofertester,

The first use I had for the AW16G was to transfer live recordings to a PC for mixing, etc. It was fairly straitforward, just keep hitting the EDIT button until you see the EXPORT page. It gets a bit tricky at this point. You can refer to p. 132 in your manual for details - if you can follow the weird conventions in the manual.

When I tried to export multiple songs on the same CDRW, it got very hard to figure out which files belong to which song - it was a mess! Unless you have unlimited supplies of CDR's, I recommend that you use CDRW media. It is MOST IMPORTANT to export 1 song at a time and transfer the .wav data of one song, then erase the media and do the next song. Otherwise you get the serious problem I had at first.

If you plan to edit the tracks on a computer, you need to use Tr1-16 as the export-source. If you only want a single track you can export any track number. Otherwise just choose the Stereo Track - You DO know how to mixdown to a Stereo Track, right?

You can also export a Virtual Track (V.TR 1-8) or a sample or Specify a particular part of a particular track, if you wish, but I've never tried any of these and don't know how well they work.

One good thing is that if you have a VERY large Song with many tracks, you can span CDR/RW's by using Tr1-16 as export source - you will be prompted to insert new media.

That's about it. A little fiddly and I really hate not being able to export multiple Song's on the same disk, but it does work well. Other things on the AW16G like the OPTIMIZE function do not work so well (it usually INCREASES the size of the Song File, not decreases it - but it DOES get rid of the annoying digital "glitches" that seem to appear out of nowhere on my Stereo Tracks.)

It was great advice to suggest you go to aw16g.com I'm jonesing for my forum fix today as the site seems to be down for some reason.

good luck!
