well, the hollowbody i'm referring to is a banjo...
i need advice, please.
i purchased a dean markley piezo acoustic pickup. where is the best place to stick it for max volume and less feedback?
so far the best place is on the drum head of the banjo, but it's sensitive and picks up my fingers hitting the head, too.
sticking it inside creates the most feedback, and i also need to tuck it where i won't rub against it (it picks that up, too).

super bonus points if you can give me suggestions for running it through a distortion pedal and/ or delay.

thanks
i'm in a jam - and i don't mean bluegrass

You may have to filter out the offending feedback frequency with E.Q., or try to lower your stage volume. Are you "Little Billy Catfish" from Cincinnati? Tom (West Chester Video)

#1: Holy Crap! How ya doin, Tom? I know it's a reach to believe, but i was actually thinkin about you the other day, wondering what you've been up to. Please get in touch... my website and stuff will be below. I live in chicago now and play banjo in a misfits tribute band.

#2: The pickup i have is a dean markley one made for violins, etc where the standard (rectangle) pickup won't work. I have one... will it work inside the banjo without feeding back?

#3: by 57 or 58, are you referring to sticking the mic inside the banjo, or placing it in front? i move around live, so standing in one place doesn't appeal to me. i have heard that the monks just threw a mic into the banjo.

Advise, again, please... first show is this friday!

i'm consulting all of my engineer friends tonight, so I'll share whatever insights i gain.

p.s. eq doesn't help. i'm not so worried about stage volume, since the amp will be mic'd. but practicing... i mean, no one can hear me.
i have a nice amp, too... a Fender tube-powered 2 X 12 Deville.
