Avid's HEAT

I was hoping someone could explain to me why pro tools has an additional download for HEAT if A: its only for Pro Tools HD and not the standard version. and B: Why does it let you download the file?

any help will be awesome.

I'd assume that it's iLok protected, so even if you can just download the installer no-problem, and actually install it, you won't be able to use it because you need an iLok to authorise it.

And, I'm not entirely sure about this, but I understand that Pro Tools with the complete production toolkit 2, is basically Pro Tools HD (software-wise). However I believe ya need the Core/Accel cards for HEAT to work, so I'm not entirely sure what the story is there.
