avalon 737 tube replacement

What tube is worth putting some money into instead of getting a $10 12ax7 for this unit? I think my tube might be bad and was looking to get a new one, and at least get one better than the one that is already in there. What kind is in there? I'll find out tonight, but I bet it's not anything spectacular.

I know, youd think hed of busted one off by now........

Oh, also I have swapped a GE 5751 in place of the 12ax7 in one of my pres. It seemed to smooth out the highs a little bit. (But that could have been from the crappy chinese tubes that were in it to begin with)........
