A few years ago, a guy I know who works at a major music distribution centre asked me to try out some new mics which were still in the development stage. It concerned a bassdrum mic and some tom-mikes. I tried it and thought it was almost an exact copy of the shure beta52. Both sound and image. The tom-mikes looked somewhat like the sennheiser blackfires.
1 Year later AV-JEFFE offered a complete mike range. Because I did some test work they were offered to me very cheap. I bought the drumset (bass and 4 toms mikes, 6 condenser pipes (lookalikes of AT) and 3 handhelds (lookalike of SM58)
Now to my ears these mikes sound great considering the bucks I've paid :
Drumkit (remember sound is similar to shure)
Bassdrum and 4x tom for $300
Condensor
$50
Handheld (sound better than SM58)
$40
Remeber I got them extra cheap but they still don't cast a thing. The're made in the AudioTechnica factory. I don't belive there is a website up, but the guy I know who got me in contact with this brand also took the publicity photo's. I'll try to get them up asap.
