Hello,

I have a Midi track in Sonar 5. I wish to remove the automation from that track (it changes the volume while playing it).

Does anyone know how to remove automation from a MIDI track using Sonar 5?

Thanks for the help, and I apologize if this question has already been asked/answered.

If it is truly automation, there should be a visible envelope on the track in Track View. To remove it, simply "right click" anywhere on the envelope and choose delete envelope.

if it is not automation but is midi controller messages (7 = volume; 11 = expression) then you can:

select the track range, filter the selection by selecting only the controller numbers and not the notes, then do a cut.

OR

go into piano roll view for that track. click the doohicky that removes the notes from the view so that only the midi controller messages show. delete the midi controller messages you don't want.

unless you are making chorus and reverb modifications in midi, or glissing (gliding) from note to note using portamento, it is most likely that all of your midi controller messages will be sustain pedal (controller 64) messages.
