In cubase it is easy to automate effects(wet, dry levels) on single tracks, cant seem to be able to do it successfully with sonar. If the only way is to use Aux,s what is the best way eg, input levels and output levels, I have experimented but cant get the control I had with cubase.

I assume you are aware that not all effects are automatable in Sonar. Only those specifically written for DirectX 8. There are about 5 of them that are supplied with Sonar - these are the ones preceded by "Fx" (e.g., FxEQ or FxReverb).

To automate them, patch one of these effects onto your track. Then right click on the track and select Envelope | Create. You should see a selection for the effect that you have patched. Choose the effect and you will get a pop-up window with check boxes asking which parameters you want to automate (e.g., wet/dry). Check off the appropriate check box and you will get an envelope on the the track for that parameter. From there it works just like a volume or pan envelope.

I assume that someone will soon start writing 3rd party effects that are automatable - but I don't know of any that exist yet.
