Hi Gang!

Has anyone got a circuit design that I could use to make an Automatic Fadeout unit? I use a Zoom MRS 1044 digital recorder, and great little machine it is too. But I would like to automate my fade-outs to get them perfect when mixing down. If no one has a circuit I could use, can anyone recommend a stand-alone ready made unit that I could buy here in the UK, please? It's just that I don't fancy buying a processor unit with lots of effects that I already have, just to get an automatic fade-out function.

Thanks a lot.
Baz.

Well...Auto fades...but why..One of the funnest/easy parts of mixin'{IMHO}..Just pull the fade in time/tempo{1/4's 1/8's and 1/16's mostly} to the track..Well anyways consider this a bump..Maybe someone can help you with you automation prob. Good luck bud

Fadeouts sound better manually anyway. If you can't get them smooth, try bumping them down on each beat instead.

Automatic Fade-Out

Thanks for your replies Henry and Regebro, I will try what you suggest. The problem lies at the very bottom of the Zoom MRS 1044 master faders. They only have 45mm of travel, and they just suddenly cut the mixdown volume at the Nth degree of travel. It is quite difficult to get it just right.

Baz.

This probably has more to do with the internal bit resolution than the fader itself.
