In autoexec.bat I have ess technologies stuff that boots up at doss .Can I uncheck this to remove from boot up or is it there for a reason--cheers

Yes, uncheck them. They are for a ess audio device to work in a dos mode. Unless there is a reason, it's best if you don't have anything loading in the autoexec.bat and the config.sys.

I don't use any audio in doss that's for sure
