"Hi, I'm in Delaware."
What's the benefit of having Reaper do automatic cross-fades? ACID does that sort of thing, but I'm not really sure what the point is. I assume there must be a good reason for it or they wouldn't advertise it so much, I just can't figure out what the purpose is. I mean, if you cut your tracks at the right spot, you shouldn't have any issues anyway, right?

If you cut stuff at the right point like zero-crossing then most cases you won't need cross-fading but cross-fading can make it sound more natural in most cases. I'm pretty sure the feature can be disabled.

Yeah, it can. Just wondering. So is the cross fade a really short fade, then? Obviously, you don't want something especially noticeable between cuts...

the way acid, vegas and reaper handle autocrossfades is the way a lot of us are used to, it makes using PT a slow and painful process. It could be cool to see an option where it only makes an autoxfade of a predetermined length as well.

You can turn them off if you'd like, but I find them extremely useful. Its not just about clicks, its about entire transitions. Simply switching from one sound recording to another, clicks or not, is not always the desired effect. For fixing up crappily played drums its almost never the desired outcome

I guess it's just not something we've covered in any of my classes so far. But then again, as you know, we're using Pro Tools, and it's not something they're likely to be doing in Pro Tools... Thanks again.

Speaking of crappily played drums, your tutorial on patching those up was awesome. Before we started trying to play to a click, our songs were all over the place, so my drums would be off, too. That sort of thing would be a big help.

this guy named Bevoss is writing scripts for autohotkey, one of them is INSANLEY cool for drum editing

So wait, what exactly is going on there? Does it just automatically find the starts of each kick beat or something?

Yup, and also it tempo maps a freeform song's drums, so ytou can keep the free feel while having a grid for editing and for tempo based effects

So all that stuff you have in your tutorials, this just does it automagically? Man... technology is great.
