how come I never hear anything about audix mics on these boards?

I have d1, d2, d3, and d4...plenty of them and I absolutely love them, although I like a beta 52 better on kick than the d4, however d4 rules on floor toms. for live sound, the om-5 will put down the beta 58.

are you guys scared of audix mics? I've found a lot of the younger engineers like the audix mics and the older engineers are faithful to good ole shure and akg. (i have shure and akg mics as well)

thoughts?

yup, I'm with ya.

good choices.

You and I must like similar drum tones or something.

Audix makes fine products but lacks the promotional muscle of the big boys. As such, I've stumbled across the occasional Audix piece by chance, but Shure is ubiquitous.

Most people on here don't comment on what they have not used.

FWIW, I liked the OM2 a lot for stage vocals.

I like the om5 a lot, and the d1. Both are usefull, good sounding mics. They had some polar pattern diagrams back a few years that were pointed at the top like a 'spade' that looked like the epitome of marketing b/s. And that 'sub impulse technology sampling sound a higher rates'?. What Ever!

Funny you should ask...

I was just thinking about getting a D2 and a D4 for high tom and low tom. Upgrade from 57s and less dough than a 421.

You guys liking these a lot?
