Audition 3 no longer creates PK files

my Audition 3 no longer creates PK files even though "Save Peak Cache Files" is checked. I open a wav file and it just doesn't create a pk, so Audition has to scan it in every time. What could be wrong?

I use Audition 3 on a Vista notebook and an Edirol UA-1EX sound card. It used to work with the same configuration for quite a while, but no longer.

Uninstall Audition and then reinstall it. Back up all of your work before doing this.
