Force of Naked
Hi. I picked up one of these mics a year or two ago to do some recording, and then quickly forgot I had it. I picked it up from a local store for $50.00 (US) used. I thought it had a good sound, but as I was finishing up my last year of college, I had no time to use it at all. Well, I just found it again about 4 months ago and used it for vocals for a Christmas album my brother and I recorded.

Anyways.... Just for sh1ts and giggles, I did some research on it tonight, and the cheapest I could find a new one for was $188.99 (US)!!! Can this be??!! :)

How good of a mic is this; what's it best used for; how good is it for acoustic guitar compared to a C1?

Any comments would be appreciated!

Thanks!

From what I've seen - looks like you got a bargain there. I managed to find a new one for £119, whatever that is in $US.

The mic is a small diaphragm condensor, so it's good at detail - voice, acoustic instruments, acoustic guitar. I use to use a similar mic (Shure Beta Green 4.1) for micing electric guitar amps! Still do sometimes, depending on the style of music and sound of amp.

The Studio Projects C1 is a Large Diaphragm condensor, and a really good one at that. The C1 would be better at detail, simply because the diaphragm is larger, so it picks up more - of course it would depend on what environment you were using it in and a whole host of other factors (as always with recording :D )

Nice try, but actually the opposite is true. A smaller diaphragm has less mass and so reacts more quickly and accurately. May I recommend the famous "big thread" for more complete analysis (next time you have about a week with nothing to do...)
