Delta users,

Im leaning towards the Delta series cards for an upgrade.
Would you say the audiophile and delta 66 are the same cards with the exception of the breakout box.
Does the audiophile offer 0 latency on record monitoring like the 66 ?
And do these cards have busmaster technology to take the strain off your CPU ?
I like the idea of having midi connects on the audiophile and I have no need for the breakout box on the 66, but if its a better card I will go with it.

Thanks for input

the Delta66 is actually 6in6out(4analog,2spdif) while the Audiophile is 4in4out(2analog,2digital)......the analog inputs on the 66 are 1/4 inch balanced while the AP has unbalanced RCA connectors......the AP doesnt have zero latency monitoring that i know of but ive never had a problem with latency....

Well, not quite -- Gidge spelled out most of the differences. I think the converters might not be the same, but I don't know that for a fact.

The Delta 66 does not offer this... but all that means is there no line out or headphone jack with a feed off the input signal. In other words, you get to listen to the signal that's about to go into the analog-to-digital converters rather than after it's passed through the computer and through the digital-to-analog controllers... Perhaps you are confiusing the Delta 66 with the OMNI Studio (the Delta 66 with the MONI I/O breakout box)?

Well, no doubt that it's better, but it's all relative. The sound quality alone is probably close to identical. It's the better (and more numerous) analog connectors that really make the difference... plus the fact that if you need a MIDI interface you still need to get one, whereas the Audiophile has one.

Ok,
In regards to your last quote, your saying the analog inputs offer better quality than RCA connects ?
In reference to my question on latency, I use headphones when recording vocal tracks for real time monitoring. But I have to adjust the buffer in my software to the minimum of .5 to get rid of the delay which also results in slight pops and clicks. If the delta cards defeat this problem, then thats what Im looking for.
By the way, Im using Logic Audio with Audiowerk8 PCI card by Emagic.
In reference to midi, I currently use my Sound blaster for my midi connects which works fine, but it would be nice to get away from that card altogether.

Thanks for the info, if you can respond to this with any additional info..... I would appreciate it

actually i think the Audiophile has slightly better converters than the Delta 44 and 66, but not as good as the 1010.....the Audiophile has the AKM AK4528 whereas the Delta 66 has the AK4524......the 1010 has AK5383 for AD and AK4393's for DA.....

and with GOOD connectors and short runs, the RCA issue shouldnt be a problem.......

The drivers for the Delta and Audiophile are the same. If one clicks and pops in your system with particluar settings, I'm willing to bet the other would too.

OK guys, thanks a lot for your help. I have decided to go with the audiophile and I hope that Im not dissapointed.
From the research I have done I think this card will work well for the price range I was looking for that is.
