Audiophile+DMP3 or Omni Studio?

Hi! I'm stuck deciding between either setup, since the both cost the same. I have feeling the DMP3 route will sound better than the Omni Studio, BUT I'm wondering where do I plug in my headphones and monitors? Can those still be run off my SB Audigy concurrently with the Audiophileduring tracking, playback, etc???? I figure my Audigy will come in handy for MIDI stuff. I'll get flamed for this, but for the time being, I'll be using my Logitech 4.1 surround system (the higher end one, not that it matters) and Koss Sportapros for monitors:) . The Omni Studio seems much more convenient with everything (knobs) right there, but the phase invert switch on the DMP3 seems like it'll come in handy one day, not to mention the better phantom power and headroom, etc.

Can someone point me in a direction? The # of inputs aren't too big of a factor cuz I'll jsut be using 2 mics for guitar and vox, and possibly a MIDI keyboard in the future (which is not an issue cuz the Audiophile has MIDI).

Thanx!

oh crap! someone below mentioned these cards not working well with VIA KT266chipsets!!?? I have a KT266A... Y is it the entire pro audio world hates my motherboard!!?? this drove me away from getting one of the aardvarks!

That particular chipset may or may not work. it's NOT guaranteed to NOT work. (I actually had my audiophile running on one (MSI)for a while with no problem.)

In any case, I believe the omni studio has the same preamps as the DMP2, which is similar to the DMP3 except for two notable things: 1) less headroom and 2) not quite 48 volts phantom. Actual sound is pretty similar...

I personally think the omni studio isn't all the great. The signal path routing struck me as annoying...though I can't remember why, exactly...

Does anyone have any input about my monitoring situation? I think I'm leaning towards the Audiophile/DMP3 route.

As for inputs i noticed the Audiophile has 2 analog ins. so pretty much, i connect one 1/4" output from the DMP3, stick it into an RCA adapter and stick it in one input on the Audiophile, and to the same for the other channel, right? does the left and right have any significance in this case?

well...left and right is left and right.
If you want to go the audiophile route, I'd suggest a mixer with the audiophile basically treated as the tape in and out. I suppose you could route the analog or digital out of the audiophile to the audigy and monitor through them. You could do it internally through your software, but you'd get so much latency during recording, it'd be useless...

If you're getting an audiophile, get a mixer. Or maybe something like those Samson C controls or whatnot. Those look interesting...

hmmm...if i want to avoid getting a mixer, would one of the other deltas do the trick? echo mia? whats the best sound most affordable thing that i can mate to a DMP3?

i have a feeling i'm making this unnecessarily hard for myself...should i just forget the whole thing and get an omni?

Sorry, but I'm getting really confused. From what I've found in the "search" so far, theres a lot of talk about ppl connecting the DMP3 to an audiophile 2496. Now you're saying they're more suitable for separate mixers. I totally understand how a Delta 44 would connect to a DMP3. 1/4" out on pre straight into a 1/4" in on the 44's breakout box. But how would a DMP3 connect to an audiophile like many others have done already?
