Audiophile 2496.

Hello, everybody.

I am hoping that anyone could help me out with this problem... I bought a Audiophile 2496 just a few days ago, to replace my old Creative-crap-card. In the software mixer that came with the card, I can choose to listen to EITHER what is being played on the computer (MP3, Audiodata, anything) OR listen to the line-in port.

Weird!

There must be a way to be able to listen to both the computer and the line-in at the same time.

I want to be able to play along to the other recorded tracks, play along to MP3's etc...

Anyone who knows what I might have missed?

in the delta panel- set the output channel 1/2 output(or L/R- whatever it is) to "monitor mixer"
 
You missed buying an outboard mixer!

When I open the Delta Control Panel, and choose the "Patchbay / Router" section, I have the following choices:

* WavOut 1/2
* Monitor Mixer
* S/PDIF In
* S/PDIF In (L/R Rev.)
* H/W In 1/2


When the WavOut 1/2 is checked, I can hear sounds played from the computer (MP3, Sonar Audio, etc).

When the H/W In 1/2 is checked, I can hear my synth via the line-in.

(I don't use the S/PDIF port at all).

With the Monitor Mixer checked I can't hear anything at all, allthough I can see the levelmeters for both the sounds from the computer and from the line-in when I choose the Monitor Mixer-tab. But I cant hear anything.

What is an outbord mixer, and do I need one? I can get both the internal sounds and the line-in sounds to play, just not at the same time. I can't see how an external mixer would help?

You don't NEED one, it's a matter of personal preferance.

I like to use a mixer to playback and mix from my computer.

It allows me to monitor what I've recorded, as well as what I am recording live, without worrying about latency issues.

As well as making mixing a "hands on" experience. Also much easier to add outboard Effects.

You can use the "Monitor Mixer" in your Delta to do this.

Go to the Mon Mix Panel, and make sure everything is un-muted, and that the faders are up. The meters should show signal from external and internal sources.

Like I said, there is a potential that doing it this way, what you record may not line up timing wise with what's already there. This is called latency, when there is a gap between what you play and what you hear.

But if it works for you, great!:)

Yes, the meters do show signal. Both from internal and external sources. But I can only HEAR either the internal OR the internal source - not both at the same time. That is my problem!

It is hard to record several tracks, if I can only hear EITHER what I am playing OR what I am recording, but not both at the same time.

Help!

I did manage to solve this problem with my soundcard, leaving only one trouble with my new setup. (I installed all of this yesterday).

So, perhaps you could take a look in the Cakewalk forum and help me out?
