Hey there,

I am finally getting around to installing my Audiophile 2496 into my PC this weekend (Windows XP Home) My question is this: should I use the drivers on the disc that came with the card or should I use other drivers from the net, and if this is the case where would I download them from.

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance

I periodically check M-Audio's site for the latest drivers, and whenever they have a newer release, I install em. Can't recall ever having any issues with them, but I guess I'd recommend going with the most recent revision.

When installing ANY piece of computer hardware, ALWAYS go to the manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers.

You don't know how long any card has been sitting in a box or how many revisions of software have been produced to fix bugs since it was shipped.

so card first then drivers or...

Thanks guys and with apologies for my idiocy, but what order do I do everything. Do I plug in the card, switch on the machine and then run the .exe that I downloaded from the M-Audio website that is now residing on my hard drive?

Stick the card in, and boot up the computer. Windows will tell you it has found new hardware and will try to find a driver for it. Just cancel out of all of that, and run the executable from M-Audio. Do what it tells you and you're set.
