First I would like to thank everyone on my previous threads who helped me come to conclusion of purchasing an Audiophile 2496, it arrives in a couple of days.

My question is: can i run both the Audigy and the 2496 so that I can have a total of 4 inputs? I will mostly just record one or two tracks at a time with the 2496 but if a situation called for more inputs, could I also use the audigy?

I have the same setup, or will have once I install my AP 2496, so I'd like to hear the answer too. Also, would I be better off using the SB for soundfonts, or running soundfonts in a VST application?

Any tips/tricks/advice specific to installing/using these two together would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry for hijacking your thread, but you weren't getting any responses. Hopefully we'll both get answers.

No, I don't think so. They cannot be locked together to share the same clock as far as I know, so they will not record in synch with each other.

About the only reason nowadays to keep the SB Live there is if you want to use the card as a SoundFont player and you want the compatability with games and such. A modern PC has plenty of juice to run a software SoundFont synth, so the first reason isn't as strong as it was two years ago.

How about a 1GHz PIII, w/512M ram? Would that be adequate for a soundfont synth while recording, or would I be better of keeping the SB for that? OR, what about putting the SB in a different machine and recording the output of the SB as audio?

Once again, sorry for hijacking the thread, dmbpettit, but since you have the same setup, I figured you'd want to know too.

And thanks, AlChuck. I didn't think you could use them simultaneously, but I thought I'd let somebody who really knew for sure answer it.

If I set the latenency really long (safe) in Sonar 3, the 2496 and Audigy seem to stay in sink with each other. Is there a why to sync the two together? I have heard of this word clock thing through Spdf.
