Hey guys,
I just picked this little dynamic up today for $10. Found it at a Best Buy. Apparently there was a sign discrepancy, as it rang up for $32, but they gave it to me for $9.99 due to the signage.

What I can tell: It's a low impedance dynamic with an on/off switch. It's black, and has the slightly elongated AT windscreen. I had an AT years ago, and it sounded fine. Now that doesn't mean all AT mics sound good. It was essentially a steal at $10 based on what it was supposed to be priced at.

However, information seems to be limited on this model. I seen auctions selling for more than what I paid, so I am guessing I got a decent deal. Should be able to find some level of utility in the thing. Hell, it's GOT to be better than a $10 NADY. :D Though I don't expect it to stand up against my EV Co9.

Any information?

I just found one on a police auction for $6. It looks kind of cheap plastic in the picture ~ could be the lighting. Is yours all metal?

Yeah, this thing is all metal. It's more of a matte finish to the body. If there were some earlier runs made in a glossy finish, I could see how that would look plastic like in pics. It looks and feels a lot like the old AT Pro/Performer that I had a long time ago...except for the fact that it is all black. I want to say even the guts look similar.

Apparently the $10 price was a Blitz/Black Friday pricing that the guys in the store forgot to change back. My gain. I see a few online going around $16-20, some in the $30 range.

I literally cannot find squat in terms of information though. It would be nice to at least know frequency range. It's listed as a vocal, so it's probably like 80Hz, or 70Hz up to 15KHz. I see a lot of vocal mics in that range. I grabbed this thing to toss in front of a guitar amp, or a bass amp, or whatever. If it dies... well, whatever it was $10. I remember I once got a NADY for grins... and I had to glue the windscreen on because the threads were plastic and weak as can be(glue in the threads to keep it in place). If nothing else, the build materials belie its price tag. Can't comment as to audio quality though...I don't have a sound system anymore, and my interface is en route. :laughings:

Interesting

Hi,

I'm not familiar with this mic but it sounds interesting. We've been discussing some inexpensive AT vocals mics on the fifty buck mic thread.

Thanks,

Hairy Larry

Well, this one can be added to that list... as it is definitely less than $50 even at full retail... and waaay less either on sale, or used. Supposed to sound alright from limited information floating out on the web... will do a more thorough sound test once I get my interface....I can compare it to all the other mics I currently have just for grins. It won't be as technical a review, but more qualitative based on what I hear...as I am not super experienced in technical terms. :laughings:

Well, I gave this mic a quick test-run through my newly arrived interface, and it sounds way better than its price tag would entail. This is always a plus. It does have a fair bit of handling noise... but otherwise seems sensitive enough for vocals. Likes a bit of gain. Sounds better raw than my Shure 588SB, but not as nice as my Ev Co9. If I had cash to toss around, and could find some more of these at $10, I'd snag them. Should make a good utility mic. Need to try throwing it in front of my buddy's cab.
