Hi--I'm new here, and found this place as it seems to be something of a hub for fans of this machine. I just got a rather clean one, and have had a hard time finding a copy of the manual I'm comfortable downloading, although I have seen reference to forum folks having a PDF copy. Mind you, I'm aware of the service manual being a unicorn (I will join the search, and of course share if I ever find it), so I'm just asking for the users manual that seems to be out there.

The signal path on mine so far seems clean, and it has the to-be-expected tape transport issues to sort out. I've seen the videos and plan to refer to them for servicing (I'm a hobby tech myself), and already have the Athan roller and idler tire recommended by a certain "sweetbeats" fella (thanks!!).

I know it's kind of lame to show up to a forum on the take so to speak, and I do hope I can contribute something useful here over time... Cheers in advance to any and all!

There are three documents floating around: the “Owner’s Manual”, an untitled supplement to the Owner’s Manual that essentially covers the controls and the inputs and outputs, and lastly a sales brochure. I do t know where I got all of them from. I’ll PM you a link to download them.

Oh wonderful. thank you!!!

A buddy and I intuitively got around on the mixer pretty well, but I love having manuals...there's always an "ah-HA" in there somewhere!

You’re welcome.

Yeah you’d think it would be pretty no-brainer to just sit down and get to work on a little 6x4 console, and that’s pretty much true here, but there are a few atypical nuances with the AT-RMX64…and when you read the manuals there are a couple head-scratchers why they did it the way they did it. Like the PAN controls to the SUB channels…fixed stereo to one pair and PAN-able to the other. This is actually really cool and practical. And the EQ…I think the AT-RMX64 mixer is one of the coolest little 1980s vintage consoles and I’m speaking of what you see and also what’s underneath the skin.

On the surface it looks very similar to the Tascam M30 I have here, but they feel totally different to me. The AT has some obvious compromises (they both do), but to your point, once you realize how you can use things like the panning issue you describe, they start to add up into a loveable little unit. 1/4" jacks. +4 line level. Killer EQ and 2 sends plus an insert per channel... I've never really got on with the Tascam, although it's great for what it is, but when I saw pics of the AT for the first time, I knew that it was what I had been looking for, which in my case was a way to bring back to some simple tape vibes, and some nice channel strips that I could patch in to my rack gear, and PT rig, and just be fun to use. Looking forward to rolling tape!

Yeah the M-30s strengths include its patchability and monitor mixer. The AT mixer though is a different animal in terms of sonic performance and circuit topology.

If you would PM me a DL link that would be amazing. The first Owners Manual you mention isn't very good, and I've always been on the lookout for the other untitled one you mention here. I do remember seeing one of them come up for sale sort of recently (within the last year) and I wanted to buy it but was broke at the time. It's true. This machine should be more or less plug and play, but it's built differently than the majority of the others.

If you PM me, I can probably figure out how to do that after I'm fully awake. It seems I'm either too new, or too dumb to figure out how to send you one... :) If sweetbeats doesn't get to it first, I'm happy to share.

So which manual do you have? The 42 page “Owner’s Manual” or the 14 page supplement?

I have a manual but it’s the short one . Happy to share it if there’s any interest

Pretty sure I got that one already...thanks mundo!

I've made good progress on the rehab of this machine, but it's been slow going...a little more disassembly, cleaning and lubrication on the transport, and back together it goes...! Taking my time and being careful...y'all know how it goes, the next one will be done in a day haha (yeah riiiight...)

Seriously considering making a basic remote and putting a tidy aviation-style connector for it right on the front near the headphone jacks...if not there on the other side of headphone volume knob...the control board doesn't look too difficult to hack into.
