You mean you just need enough mic cables for all the mics you have set up to go to a recording interface? Just curious how many mics you have, and how far away the recording gear is (be it interface to a desktop, or standalone stuff).
If we're talkin a decent distance, Id say get some decent mic cable for the mics you have, and then get a snake that will handle that many mics, to send to the recording interface.
I'd imagine you could remove some of the shielding from one end of a snake (that I'm assuming has XLR jacks on both ends - not XLRs on one side and a big jack box on the other), but the amount of cable you'd have to free from the brading would probably be substantial, and at that point, you are exposing a lot of otherwise flimsy cable to wear and tear. From what I've seen of the snakes I use, the cable that runs through that one big fat cable is far thinner than stand-alone cable, so its best not to have a lot of it exposed.
