Ok here is my situation. I used sonar on my old hp with 733mhz and 128sdram with almost no problems running windows 98se. I got a dell with xp and I am having a lot of trouble with audio skips during playback and bounces. I am running sonar xl 2.0 on the following computer:

Dell P4 2.0GHz
256MB DDR SDRAM at 266MHz
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Digital Sound Card
40x/10x/40x Max CD-RW Drive
48x Max CD-ROM Drive
120GB Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive
Windows XP Home Edition

I have already cleaned the startup and made sure I had only what I must running in the background. Thx in advance for any help. P.S. I did have skip problems playing MP3 files till I installed winamp lite.

be careful whether you're telling sonar to use WDM drivers or MME drivers. When you installed it again, you may have made a new choice. Sonar prefers WDM drivers, but you can override that and tell it to use MME drivers in the audio options. You will want to use that, if you only have MME drivers for your soundblaster.

What SB Live drivers are you using? The ones from the Creative site are absolute crap - stick with the Live drivers that shipped with XP.
