Has anyone ever heard of or know anything about the Audio Recording Technology Institute [ARTI] on Long Island in New York? (they also have a campus in Florida!)

I'm thinking seriously abot attending a recording engineer program there. Just researching the place!

Their Web site is www.audioinstitute.com.

Thanks,

mike S.

I'm curious why you want to go to s recording school? Do you want to work at a studio or run your own?

I'm just curious.

oh boy, I just looked at their website...does "learn tv repair at home" ring a bell? I wonder how much they charge...I would stay away from this. Are you sure this is the website for ARTI?

You could probably learn what they're going to "teach" you by reading some magazines. Learning to be an engineer in your "spare time" just seems a little sketchy to me.

well, here's my take on recording schools. I say if you want to be an engineer at a studio, and dont have money to buy all the equipment to learn...go to school. They will give you hands on training of stuff that you wouldn't usually be able to use. But then again 170 hours of teaching is not really that much. And even though you will have your certificate in hand, thers no guarantee that you will be working, most likely, you will be sweeping the floors and working your way up...if you can get someone to hire you. But if you would like to run your own project studio, I say use the money to buy equipment, and just get in there and mess around with the equipment untill you know it inside and out. But a decent project studio is a much bigger cost than school.

as you can see, there's not really a clean line here, you just have to figure out what you want to do.

what do you want to do??

Yo MIKE:

Before you jump into the school and find sharks, try this:

Many Junior Colleges offer "electronic music" introduction courses. The cost is cheap compared to trying a "program" at some web-school.

In Grand Rapids, the JC offers a course like that and I'm threatening to take it just to learn more about recording. I think this course uses Roland Gear. But, anyways, I'd explore the junior college first, then a reliable college that may have an electronic program.
