can anyone recomend a good usb.... not firewire! audio interface? i have a MOTU 8pre but its incompatable as my laptop has no firewire port... or alternatively, is there any kind of 'Working' firewire to usb adaptors out there?

There are no firewire-to-usb converters.

Does your laptop have a PCMCIA or Expresscard slot???
There ARE firewire cards that will go into there....

I had the same quandry a few months ago. It was a toss-uo between the Presonis Audiobox and the Line 6 Pod Studio UX2. I was just about to go with the Audiobox until I saw this YouTube vid-

I'm happy with the Pod Studio, but I use it for vocals only. It's mostly geared to guitarists as it offer tons of amp and rack models in its Pod Farm and Gearbox software bundle, but does fine for vocals nonetheless.

Net indicates its got to be TI chip to be hassle free.
