I'm looking for a relatively low latency (<20 ms) usb audio interface or sound card for an em350 netbook connected to an Alesis Dm10 by usb.
I've seen some cheap offerings from behringer (40$) and Roland (80$) at musicians friend but i'm not sure they would do the same thing as a sound card?
I've also seen cheap usb soundcards like the xfi go (40$) but i'm not sure how they would do for latency?
Will an audio interface bypass the onboard sound like a sound card will if the drums are plugged into another free usb port or would i need to go through an midi cable and connect the drums directly to an audio interface.
Hopefully there's something out there that will do what i need for around the 50$ mark but if not my maximum is probably 100.
