Hi,
I've been struggling to get the same kind of tight, controlled sound with my DAW that I used to get with a Minidisc multitrack recorder a few years ago.
I used virtually no outboard gear with the MD recorder, other than two guitar distortion pedals plugged into one another (I didn't like their individual sounds, but together I got what I wanted).
One of the things that I have wondered about, which might potentially have an effect on helping me to get the kind of sound that I'm looking for, is using a direct box. At the moment, I just go into my audio interface, a Presonus Firestudio, and then go from there into my Mac Pro, and record in GarageBand.
So, there are two potential questions that come out of this, but the one that I am interested in asking right now, is do people here use a direct box for recording electric guitar, in addition to their audio interface, or do you go straight into the audio interface?
Thanks,
GVDV.
