Audio channel visual problems in PA9

When I am working with PA9, I sometimes lose all the visual representation of my audio channels. This kills cutting and pasting, etc.

The channels look fine, there's just either no line in them at all, or a straight flat line, as if the amplitude were zero.

Once I save the file as a bundled file (.bun), then reload it, the waveforms draw just fine, until I have worked with them for a while and really need them!

Is there some way to have Cakewalk recalc these waveform visuals? I'm running PA 9.02. I see there's a 9.03 on the Cakewalk website, but it doesn't say anything about that - should I try that?

Thanks much,

I had the same problem. I'm not sure what caused it. But, if you delete your picture cache (the .WOV files) Cakewalk will redraw all the waveforms. Deleting these files will not affect your audio in any way.

Thanks for the quick response! I'll give that a try.

Darn! No joy. Yes, deleting the files in the picture cache caused a recalc/redraw - but when they were redrawn, they were still blank or flatlined.

When I saved as bundled and then reloaded they came back. :::sigh::: Guess that's what I'll have to do for now.

I'm working a modestly complicated mix - 9 songs, 9-15 tracks each, and I'm seeing this bug several times through the day. I know, I know -- upgrade to Sonar. I'd love to - but my financial coordinator (read: wife) doesn't see that as a justified expense yet. ;)

Just tell your wife
All the cool kids have sonar!

Here's a serious answer to your fun response....

When the funds do become available....
Sonar or Cubase SX? I'm not doing much with MIDI - almost exclusively with audio.

Hee Hee!!! Asking that in the Cakewalk forum is like going to a Republican Convention and asking if you should vote for Bush or Gore:p

Personally, I got demos for Cubase and PA9 (now have Sonar), and I found Cakewalk much more intuitive, so I chose the Cakewalk Camp.. Now that SONAR has DXi instruments, I would say SONAR has the advantage because it seems easier to use.

Oh, I realize where I am... ;)

On the other hand, I usually find that the best reasons for each can be given by partisans of each program, and I'd really like to know if people consider Sonar equivalent to Cubase SX (not the old version - the new Nuendo codebase).

TOP TEN REASONS TO GET SONAR

10.The cats and chicks on this forum are way cooler than those cubase dorks.
9.You'll get whiter whites and brighter brights.
8.In a scientific study 9 out of 10 people prefered the smell of the sonar cd to the cubase cd.
7.sonar just sounds cooler than cubase...c'mon say it, s-o-n-a-r!!
6.Cubase is made by underage workers in sweatshops somewhere in Iraq.
5.10% of all proceeds from sonar go toward finding a cure for cancer.
4.If you don't buy sonar something bad will happen to someone somewhere, now you don't want that to happen....do you?
3.Music made with sonar goes great with beer!
2.It's 100% fat free!
And the number one reason to get sonar(drumroll please)....

CHICKS DIG GUYS WITH SONAR!!!!!!
Now if that does'nt convince you go buy cubase and be part of the problem instead of being part of the answer!

Sincerely
